Dear Friends of We Are People Here!,
What a lot you have accomplished through the course of this last year!
Thank you, all!
I will not list all our doings except to point out one overarching theme: In the chaos of our country’s life and in the obvious chaos and stress of our own lives, we have managed to put together teams. No part of organizing is more difficult or more significant than finding ways to work together, especially for volunteers. If we had kept track of our volunteer time we would have registered several thousand hours. For what? For an effort to keep democracy alive. From Town Halls to the great symposium in September, to the ongoing work to keep public banking in front of the public during this fall, to the fundraising, to the orientations for new people, to studying the City’s financial reports, to the constant meetings of the Executive Committee, to the outreach to leaders all over the state, you all have shown the ability to stay in touch, to honor feelings, to keep our goals high and our spirits true. In all the years I have been organizing, I have never seen it done better.
We have a great deal to be grateful for, and I am most grateful for all of you. I am grateful for your dedication to the larger purpose of keeping democracy alive, and for helping to find ways that we can work together to actually do this.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving day and weekend!
